I was very pleasantly surprised to receive great support from the general manager of the George Hotel David Welch and the executive chef Stewart Jarvie. Stewart, a cyclist too, sold my adventure to David to great effect.
Last Thursday Stewart hosted a cooking demonstration in Tempus to launch their new menu. He kindly let me display my bike along with a poster and some flyers about the trip and the charity. He even let me steal some of his thunder to say a few words about it all. I then took the opportunity to chat to some of the guests, many of whom seemed very intersted. The evening was a great success for all involved.
On top of this David Welch managed to secure a £500 charitable donation for DARE from Principal Hayley, the company that owns the George Hotel. Not only that but he also bought several items of tour kit for my journey. Altogether a significant help to both DARE and myself.
